Why The Greyhound Kew Is the Perfect Spot for Weekend Lunch

The weekend in Kew has a rhythm of its own. A slow start, a walk on the Green or along the towpath, then a long table somewhere with the papers, a glass of something cold, and no particular plan. We have built our weekend lunch around exactly that.

From Noon, Saturday and Sunday

Our kitchen opens at noon, Saturday and Sunday, and runs through the afternoon. The main menu leans into seasonal British ingredients with full plates for the hungry, lighter options when the previous evening was generous, and a dessert list worth saving room for. On Sundays, the Sunday roast joins the menu and takes over a fair portion of the room from one o'clock onwards.

From the Bar

A weekend lunch needs the right drink in front of it. The bar runs cask ales, craft beers, a wine list we are proud of, and handcrafted cocktails for the table that wants to make a proper occasion of it. Plenty of soft options too, and decent coffee for after.

A Room Built for Long Tables

Comfortable booths, soft lighting, plenty of natural light, and a beer garden for the warm months. The kind of space you sit down in at twelve and look up from at three. Our team knows weekend lunches are meant to be slow, and we do not rush a table that is enjoying itself.

Two Minutes from Kew Gardens, Steps from the River

We sit on Kew Green, two minutes from the Elizabeth Gate of Kew Gardens, a few steps from the Thames towpath, and a short walk from Kew Gardens station. Lunch first, Gardens after. Or Gardens first, lunch after. Either order works.

Dogs and Children, Always Welcome

A weekend lunch should suit everyone at the table. We are a dog friendly pub throughout, with water bowls at the bar and a real welcome for four-legged regulars. Kids are welcome too, with a dedicated kids menu and high chairs available on request.

For Bigger Tables

If lunch is for a birthday, a family gathering, or a long-overdue catch-up with old friends, our private hire options cover sections of the pub or the whole place. We have set up enough of them to know how to make them feel effortless.

Your New Weekend Habit

Weekend lunches at The Greyhound have become a fixture for our locals, and the reasons are not complicated. Good food, real welcome, the right pace. If you want to know more about who we are, our story is here. If you would rather just see for yourself, book a table for this Saturday or Sunday.
